How can we help?

We provide legal advice and assistance to RICS members and RICS regulated firms whose professional conduct has been called into question. Find out more about how we can help you with –

RICS investigations

The RICS Rules of Conduct sets out the standards required of its members. If concerns are raised regarding the actions of you or your firm, RICS must investigate whether the rules and bye-laws have been breached. If you are the subject of a RICS investigation, please contact us immediately. We can advise how to handle the situation to ensure an effective resolution.

Responding to the initial complaint

If RICS investigates your conduct, you will be asked to provide further information. Do not say anything until you have spoken to us. If you outline how your conduct met the rules and bye-laws required, it will stand you in good stead. Conversely, if you say the wrong thing, it could work against you. We can respond to the initial complaint on your behalf.

Referral to the RICS Disciplinary Panel

If your case is referred to the RICS Disciplinary Panel, it is recommended that you instruct a solicitor. We prepare and present your case at the hearing, handling every stage of the process for you. We have dealt with countless cases similar to yours and know how to succeed. You can be confident that you have the best legal representative available.

Sanctions and appeals

If sanctions are imposed, we can guide you through the appeals process. This can result in the decision being overturned, a more lenient sanction being imposed, or a referral back to the Disciplinary Panel. Given the consequences of a severe penalty, it can be highly beneficial to pursue an appeal.

Why choose us?

We understand the importance of any investigation that calls into question the professional conduct, fitness to practise and integrity of RICS members. We provide support from the initial complaint, right through to the referral by RICS to a disciplinary hearing.

Having formerly prosecuted for RICS for many years, we have an intimate knowledge of the regulatory body and their disciplinary proceedings. Now we defend RICS members, amongst other professionals, but use our experience to your advantage. This gives us a tactical edge, as we can readily draw upon the relevant rules, regulations and case law when needed. We also know what strategy will work best in your particular case.

Disciplinary action is extremely stressful and can last for many months. We appreciate just how frightening this can be. We promise to work hard to get you the best possible outcome. We remove the burden from your shoulders, allowing you to continue with your life.
