How can we help?

We provide legal advice and assistance to CILEx members, CILEx practitioners and CILEx authorised entities whose professional conduct has been called into question. We offer specialist legal representation from the initial complaint, right through to a disciplinary hearing and the appeals process. Find out more about how we can help with you –

CILEx investigations

All CILEx members, practitioners, approved managers and authorised entities must comply with the rules, regulations and bye-laws of CILEx. If a member fails to meet these standards, there will be an investigation. The matter may then be referred to the Professional Conduct Panel. We can represent you throughout the process, advising you of your options and devising a suitable strategy.

Responding to the initial complaint

When CILEx receives a complaint about you, it must review the information and decide whether there could be a case to answer. You will be asked to respond to the complaint and provide evidence in support of your conduct. Speak to us before submitting your response. We can draft a letter and put forward the evidence needed to invalidate any claims of misconduct.

Referral to the Disciplinary Tribunal

If your case progresses all the way to a full disciplinary hearing, we strongly recommend that you have legal representation. We specialise in defending chartered legal executives and know how to succeed at a Disciplinary Tribunal. We prepare and present your case, applying our expertise to prove your innocence.

Sanctions and appeals

Sanctions can be imposed by both the Professional Conduct Panel and the Disciplinary Tribunal. If you contest the guilty verdict, or the sanctions which have been imposed, you can make an appeal. We can prepare and submit the appeal on your behalf, working hard to secure you a better outcome.

Why choose us?

An investigation by CILEx can be terrifying prospect. Having your fitness to practise scrutinised is something no professional wants to face. It can also be an extremely uncertain time, as you do not know what the future might hold – and even whether your ability to work as a legal executive will be compromised.

We understand just how important it is to resolve a complaint quickly and successfully. This is our focus when we represent chartered legal executives whose conduct has been called into question. Thanks to our extensive experience in this area, we can achieve this goal, no matter what stage you are at in the process.
